I find this particular review to be a hard to respond to, but I'll give it a shot.
Thanks for recognizing that we have a good vacation and Paid Time Off policy, we're proud of it.
I suspect you might be a more than a little harsh with a blanket statement that middle management is clueless and I'm sure you wouldn't like any coworker ever saying that about you. We're proud of our team here and I think we're getting better all the time as well.
I see that you wrote your review at the end of 2017. I suspect that you somehow missed the communication that we had a special year where we the revenue was harder to predict than usual. To maximize job protection, we held on raises (other than in-year promotions) and instead put in place a one time profit sharing plan where we pledged to distribute 20% of profits back to the Ross team. A year later, I'm really pleased to note that we knocked it out of the park and had by far the most profitable year in the company's history and the payout for each employee will be many thousands of dollars. Starting in November 2018 we'll be catching up on wages and I'm looking forward to another great year.
On the lateral move comment, I'm constantly personally approving lateral promotions and internal promotions. We're a growing, dynamic company (20% this year) and it's really fantastic to see some people even go all the way from co-op student to Product Manager.
On the people side, we do take the Ross Culture and Ross Code of Ethics seriously. They're everywhere, reinforced during hiring and reviews, and also available on our website. Other reviews, I think correctly, promote the friendly family atmosphere at Ross so we may have to agree to disagree here.
On the hardware side, I'm not entirely clear what's meant, but we have a deal with Dell where personal laptops are replaced every three years, and our ongoing facility improvements and upgrades have been impressive recently.
Thanks at least for giving me a chance to give a bit more insight into Ross, and why I strongly believe it really is a great place to work. David Ross.
