Pros

Initial phone screening to interviewing with the IT project manager was a quick process.

Cons

I recently went through the interview process with RPI Group for a Systems Specialist role. While the initial stages were smooth, my experience took a disappointing turn after I received a verbal offer. The company pressured me to make a quick decision, despite my request for a reasonable timeframe to evaluate my options. I asked for until the following Wednesday to consider the offer—it was a Friday when the offer was extended—meaning I requested three business days to decide. However, less than 12 hours after extending the offer, they rescinded it, claiming an “alignment” issue, despite previously determining I was a strong fit. In their response, RPI suggested that my request for “a couple of weeks” was unreasonable. However, this is inaccurate—I requested only three business days, which is a reasonable timeframe for any professional offer, particularly one that impacts long-term career decisions. Their claim that they typically provide only two business days to decide contradicts their own handling of this situation, as they didn’t even give me 24 hours. This lack of professionalism and transparency reflects poorly on their hiring process. If they had concerns about the timeline, they should have made that clear when extending the offer rather than immediately pulling it. For job seekers, I’d advise caution when considering opportunities with this company, as their decision-making seems inconsistent and reactionary. I value integrity and clear communication in an employer, and unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations.

RPI Group Response

Having a smooth, transparent, and positive hiring process is very important to us at RPI. We’ve worked hard over the years to ensure the best candidate experience, and I am sorry that you were left feeling disappointed with the outcome. In this instance, your desired timeline of a couple of weeks to make a final decision was out of alignment with our required timeline to fill the open position. We understand that candidates often have multiple options, and in some cases, we can provide a couple more days for someone to consider our offer of employment beyond the standard two business days. However, with this mission critical program, we do not have the luxury of waiting for extended periods of time to start the security and onboarding processes.  I apologize if the timeline expectations were not made clear from our end. We will take this feedback to make sure that other candidates continue to experience transparent communications and a positive hiring process, as integrity is critically important to us as a company.

Pros

RPI Group doesn't just list its core values on a wall; they live them every day. During my nearly two-year tenure, I was consistently impressed by the humility and accessibility of the leadership team. The C-suite leaders make a genuine effort to know every employee by name. This isn't limited to the headquarters; it happens during active site visits in the field and at holiday events where they make a point to engage personally with spouses and significant others. The company also fosters a deep sense of community through: A Personal Touch: The company newsletter allows individuals to share and celebrate major life milestones. Crisis Support: Most importantly, the company truly rallies together to support individuals facing personal hardships, regardless of their position or title. You are treated as a person first, not just a job function. This level of care is incredibly rare in the defense/tech industry.

Cons

Honestly, it is difficult to find a traditional "con." The only thing to note is that because the company is so dedicated to mission success, the work is fast-paced and the standards are high. If you are looking for a role where you can just "coast," this isn't it—but for those who want to be challenged and supported, it’s the perfect environment.
