I recently went through the interview process with RPI Group for a Systems Specialist role. While the initial stages were smooth, my experience took a disappointing turn after I received a verbal offer. The company pressured me to make a quick decision, despite my request for a reasonable timeframe to evaluate my options. I asked for until the following Wednesday to consider the offer—it was a Friday when the offer was extended—meaning I requested three business days to decide. However, less than 12 hours after extending the offer, they rescinded it, claiming an “alignment” issue, despite previously determining I was a strong fit.
In their response, RPI suggested that my request for “a couple of weeks” was unreasonable. However, this is inaccurate—I requested only three business days, which is a reasonable timeframe for any professional offer, particularly one that impacts long-term career decisions. Their claim that they typically provide only two business days to decide contradicts their own handling of this situation, as they didn’t even give me 24 hours.
This lack of professionalism and transparency reflects poorly on their hiring process. If they had concerns about the timeline, they should have made that clear when extending the offer rather than immediately pulling it. For job seekers, I’d advise caution when considering opportunities with this company, as their decision-making seems inconsistent and reactionary.
I value integrity and clear communication in an employer, and unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations.
