Decent product focus but plagued by leadership issues - Mid Market Account Executive Rain Instant Pay Employee Review

Pros

Their product focus for the earned wage access space is decent and provides a reliable model that works well with payroll departments, and they intend to scale with better financial assistance tools for employees

Cons

They have terminated employees without cause and have faced lawsuits for wrongful termination. There are often no explanations provided, just selfish decisions. Leadership frequently changes, and they tend to overpromise while underdelivering. If anyone questions their approach or the way they market their products, they are instructed to stick to the company line and refrain from raising concerns. As a result, there is a lot of dysfunction, which contributes to high employee turnover.

Pros

Working at Rain as a Customer Success Manager has been my favorite role I’ve had in my entire career. Leadership is supportive, approachable, and truly invested in your growth—not just your performance, but your career and personal development as well. The team is smart, collaborative, and genuinely fun to work with. Despite being remote, the team does a great job creating connection through open conversation and thoughtful meetings that actually bring people together. Providing earned wage access is meaningful work, and we can see the real impact it has on customers every day.

Pros

-Honestly the product that rain is selling is top notch -Early on, the culture was incredible and made coming to work exciting -Learned a lot from talented peers who were doing their best.

Cons

-The BDR role feels like it’s being phased out, and leadership never gave a straight answer about it -What used to be a culture-driven company is now just talk with no action -Morale steadily declined, and burnout was almost inevitable -Leadership avoided tough conversations and ignored clear warning signs -The spark that once made this a great place to grow your career is gone -change is always inevitable in a sales role but when you make changes don’t suddenly throw the whole team under the bus and expect those changes to work.
