Cons
1. Very customer-centric company, tutors' voices are not heard so much - They have a team of tutor support but their responses take a while. They simply follow the rules but if your complaint is not within their "rules/handbook/guidelines", they do not know how to handle the situation. The support staff you talk to every time is different, expect their responses regarding their policies to change. No consistencies at all. They do say they understand your situation but not really. They need training on "customer support handling". They will not follow up on what they have promised regarding the question you asked before. They expect you to handle these unexpected issues (for having a problematic student), and they blame you for not being understanding and patient towards your students because they do not understand what is the real problem or main issue. They will give you "canned" responses because I think they are not tutors and they do not know how it feels to be one. Also, they will give a solution that is impossible to reach because of some given situations on your side (i.e. if you are a popular tutor) that does not really affect your schedule. They do not seem to see the big picture of your complaint, they only see a short side. The effect is not only on the tutor's side but on the other students who want to book that tutor. More importantly, they will refer you to a "different department" but when you check it, it is also under tutor support. Your concern will just go round and round in circles. If your concern is escalated, they will refer you back to tutor support if they cannot handle it. 2. Minimal training was given but they expect you to teach well. 3. Base rate pay is unlikely to increase My base pay rate when I started is still the same until now, with just an increase of 6php in several years. Depends on what was agreed, the rate will increase if you pass the 5 assessments. However, they stopped assessing me. So that means, my salary may not increase anymore. Also, my salary rate increase depends on the tutor awards. But sad to say, they changed the types of awards, making my salary increase even more hopeless. The other incentives they offer are not that worth it. 4. Incentives are not offered to all equally. I mean some incentives are only offered to those 1st generation, or should I say pioneer RJ tutors. 5. If you have a perfect attendance for several months (that means having a 0 percent cancellation ratio), expect to get more substitute slots. I’ve experienced it for 2 months in a row; I got 2/3 slots per day but I only taught 7 slots in total. Really unfair. If this is programmed by the “system”, it is so annoying and demotivating.
