Pros

Honestly, not a lot of pros. Before SAY took the property over, I really enjoyed the gig. After, it was just not the same publication and they tried to turn it into a piecemeal operation that any warm body could fill.

Cons

Once SAY acquired RWW it was a downhill slide. The compensation structure got reworked and not for the benefit of writers. The new editorial process sucked. They also ditched more in-depth coverage, which is their prerogative, but not really the RWW of old.

Pros

RWW has a large readership and is very influential among followers of technology and startups. You can feel that with every post it runs, and it lends a certain gravity to the work you do. Although there is no physical office, there is still a decent camaraderie within the staff. People are respectful, helpful, and kind, even if only on chatrooms.

Cons

Not having a physical office might be a con for some, if working from home or alone is not your thing. Like nearly every online news website, there is a lot of staff turnover, and often. That means getting used to new coworkers frequently.
