Pros

The engineering team is super quick, because the architecture is very very good and they are mostly seniors, despite it being a early stage startup. There is very few meetings and a lot of freedom. After COVID19, we decided that all the company can work remotely forever, with just the people that wants to go to the office going to it. Flexible work hours. Well funded, fast and frugal.

Cons

Because it is earlier days, there is some stuff that is not in place, like 1-1s and career development. But 1) I know for a fact they are being structured right now; and 2) this is completely understandable for such a small (and senior) team. Compensation is a bit lower than market average (but I imagine this was because I got hired during COVID crisis, which pushed the salaries I knew down a bit).

Thanks so much for your feedback. We are definitely focusing on making sure 1:1's are taking place more regularly and there is additional focus on career development. This was something as you rightfully saw lacking due to resources. We want to make sure that as we grow, everyone and their career is addressed regularly and feedback and support are given to help one develop while working for us. We also are bringing on a VP Engineering to minimise the workload of our CTO and to have someone in place who not only has the time but the mandate to focus on 1:1's with the tech team. Other VP positions have been filled or are being filled and career development for their teams are heavily prioritised focus areas. Your comment about "working longer hours" is noted and you are correct that it is more about outcomes and not time spent on those outcomes. I believe we are finding a better balance having gone into a fully remote environment but we can always get better about managing primarily for outcomes. One way or another, it is great to hear this feedback so we can address it. I appreciate you taking the time to review us here.

Pros

The work is fresh and exciting. There's nothing unintentional about the the tech stack, they've selected it through careful consideration, experimentation, and trial and error. I appreciate that even though very much a start-up, they take the time to design and implement things to scale and perform, not just to make them work and get them out of the way. The founders really want Receeve to succeed, it's very clear they're not just looking for a paycheck due to the amount of care they put into every decision, the open communication, and transparency offered to every single employee. Personal time is respected, and I've never felt pressured to work unreasonable hours. You will succeed if you can take ownership of the work you've been tasked with, and take initiative making proactive desicions towards accomplishing what needs to be done with autonomy.

Cons

Work is rewarding, but pay is a bit below market. You are expected to learn many of the things you need on your own. They don't expect you to know everything, but if you aren't curious and resourceful you will feel lost.

Pros

Working in the latest technologies with a top level team with agile methodology. Remote environment.

Cons

Some poor management decisions led to downsizing and funding issues. As an employee you need to be aware of the company situation.
