Pros

Being a new grad i was nervous about working with ventilators and handling emergency situations but feel so confident after such a short period of time due to the support that i have received from veteran staff. It has been an incredible experience for me to see the deep commitment and compassion they have for their clients. I wanted to repeat the vent class to reinforce what i had learned and the office immediately set up another class that fit into my schedule. Even after 6 months i still get nervous in some situations but always feel supported by my co-workers. Pay rate seems to be competitive with other home care agencies.

Cons

Last minute assignment changes can be very frustrating and that some individuals are not required to change locations. Sometimes there can be a lot of negativity that can bring everyone on the shift down.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate the feedback and will use your input for improvements within our company. We understand last minute assignment changes are difficult for staff as well as the clients but also difficult for the staffing department.. Please understand that when making these last minute changes they are out of necessity and are due to an event somewhere in the system - employee sick call, client hospital admission or simply someone running last to shift as well as a number of other scenarios. When making these decisions it all comes back to client safety. We agree that a negative environment can make or break a 8 or 16 hour shift. Everyone has their bad days but if this is a consistent concern about specific individuals we encourage you to reach out to them to discuss. If this approach doesn't work we are always hear to listen and work on a solution. We feel that communication is the key to success in every situation. We are excited about the designated House Case Managers. We had received this feedback in the past and have been working on how to bridge the gap between management and field staff. Once it is up and running we would appreciate feedback if you see any room for improvement.

Pros

Awesome clients, awesome office managers, hourly wage is decent, the job itself is not too challenging, company and managers do not mislead you, some flexibility in the schedule, good communication, must be comfortable working independently and be responsible, excellent skills as a PCA and being patient-center is absolutely required for this position, other staff are compassionate and helpful

Cons

The office managers are your supervisors and relay information to the nurses if you are a homemaker/PCA so don't expect to talk to any of the nurses unless it is an emergency, or at a home visit of the client, after the initial hire training you will never talk to any of the nurses on behalf of the clients. You do not get paid for travelling or mileage reimbursement. Lots of down time so bring something to do to keep yourself busy- they expect you to find additional chores to do but there is no additional work and the client's do not want you poking around looking for extra chores. If you have any concerns or complaints, they will not listen to you but will accommodate you a little bit if needed.
