Pros

- Good location - Some days free lunch

Cons

Feedback: This company has the worst employee moral, I’ve personally ever experienced. The reason: “this is a start up.” This is supposed to be a cloud/HPC company but they keep hiring executives that have no experience in true HPC or cloud. They come in, make waves and good people leave or they are fired. It doesn’t make any sense. They have been hiring unusual business positions that are not helpful such as customer success. In my opinion we don’t need more business people, we need experienced developers, engineers, product leads, architects, partner/relationship people.. people that help make the product worth selling. This feedback has been provided countless times. Everyone is way over worked, underpaid and it doesn’t feel good because it feels management just doesn’t care. They could show they care by making offers to good experienced people that are interviewing. Say good job once in awhile and stop letting good people go or walk out. The problem is, this company used to be good and actually kind of fun. It did feel like a start up, we were figuring it out together. But when you focus on only money, titles and not keeping your employees happy, your company crumbles. Moral is down, no one is innovative, employees go into survival mode. People’s mental health deteriorates. This is 100% about company culture (show appreciation, good pay), and listening to employee feedback.. plus hiring true experts in this field.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. As the company scales, it is common to experience growing pains and business changes. One of the factors we always consider is the impact of our high level decisions on our employees. Morale of our employees is top of mind. In addition to conducting a company-wide employee engagement survey, we have also pulsed 30% of our employees to dig deeper into areas of improvement. Employees will see programs and improvements implemented based off the data. If you would like to provide more feedback on your experience, please feel free to email feedback@rescale.com. Again, thank you for the feedback.

Pros

Rescale is a rocket ship. It spent a decade+ building a moat around the best tooling for orchestration of simulation workflows for cloud HPC, and now is building on that to become the de-facto enabler of all kinds of AI-based solutions for engineers and scientists. The goal is ambitious, but clear. Many companies are trying to target engineering markets as glorified wrappers of LLMs, agentic AI services, etc. The architectural moat around compute that Rescale has makes it uniquely better positioned to go after the whole value chain, from computation to agentic AI. It's all in house. Someone on Glassdoor said that Joris Poort is the kind of leaeder you bet your career on. Strongly agree. He is visionary, curious, and relentless in his drive for real value for engineers over hyped up pilots or PR wins based on thin technical gruel. That culture from the top affects everyone. Leadership is constantly forcing themselves to challenge their own assumptions, especially both the internal and external consequences of building product in the AI boom. Colleagues are smart and humble here. Have seen few big egos, ankle biting, or stupid political drama. Everyone is bought into communicating in the distributed work model in such a way that it doesn't feel isolating to work remote.

Cons

Any "Con" I've experience so far is run of the mill startup stuff, and things that Rescale manages well: Moving fast at the expense of process/documentation, occasional lack of clarity on ownership/prioritization of cross-functional work, and surges in work pressure near crunch time dates. If those are dealbreakers, then don't join a startup that's moving with urgency.
