Pros

I've never worked for a company which truley care about conditioning the work environment for each employee for mental health and work efficiency. The management act quickly to fix whatever issues come up. RFM is one of a few B-Corp certified architecture companies in NW region. True equity is a standard at RFM

Cons

Only the con I can think of is that the design I pursue was a bit different from many of the coworkers. I still enjoyed a lot to work with all of the coworkers.

Pros

Ever since I started working here 5 years ago, I have been treated like family. Everyone is always willing to help when you ask for it. Whether you need to bounce a code question of a sounding board or need to sit in an impromptu charrette to get a detail or design worked out, there is always someone willing to help. Teamwork is highly valued in this office as a lot of our projects require multiple people to complete. I work very closely with our various architects, designers and interior designers on many jobs. The office provides us with a tremendous amount of assistance to follow our passions. Some have been sent across the country to take classes in WELL and LEED, while others have spearheaded the desire to modify the studio space to make it more efficient for the employees. RFM provides the needed resources for exams including NCIDQ, LEED, WELL, ARE and so on. Even providing group meeting time to help those who are studying.

Cons

I have not encountered any downsides working at RFM.

Pros

RFM is a great design firm and an even better place to work. The team at RFM all contribute to a really wonderful culture. The leadership in the company is very transparent and communication is highly valued. The design studio is housed in a reclaimed auto center building that sat vacant for over 25 years and it's an awesome place to work. RFM is the place to build your career and chase your pursuits. The leadership at RFM is extremely supportive and is all about saying yes and encouraging individuals to forge a path for themselves. RFM uses a tool call Career Development Plans along with annual reviews and half year check-ins to keep the needs and desires of the individual and firm central to decisions made for staffing and strategic project pursuits. We pride ourselves on keeping our firms core values as our filter for making choices for our firm and team. - We will create a great place to work. - Do our best. - Conduct business with integrity and respect. - Support the community. - Seek balance between work and other things in our lives.

Cons

RFM is far from perfect...but really we all are far from perfect. Bring together personalities and different backgrounds and you're bound to have some difference of opinions. Over time those difficulties made themselves go away which has made the firm even stronger today. You have to keep in mind the location of RFM as it's not in the city of Seattle --- Bremerton is a doable commute. Whether that's by car, bike, foot or ferry...we have a lot of people coming to RFM from all over the region --- Ballard, Seward Park, First Hill, Downtown Seattle, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Lacey/Olympia, Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, Renton and Kent. Don't let the commute scare you away!
