Pros

Most of the supervisors are great people who have worked the residential instructor position too, lots of room for career advancement if interested. Residential Instructor with Overnights earns more than most supervisors but requires more hours.

Cons

You wear a lot of hats on the job, can be exhausting, but as is this industry

Pros

Students we serve but since our enrollment continues to go down. 6 dorms at the ms/hs this year is pathetic. We used to have 10-11 dorms with a waiting list.

Cons

Riverview has changed so much in the time our new head of school started. It totally lacks the family oriented culture we once had. Employees are no longer respected or given any job security. In the next few months parents will see all the changes and I think will be quite disappointed. They are putting people in roles that they will not able to mange due to their lack of confidence, experience, and bottom line do not have good hearts. One thing I always prided myself on was the genuine love and respect I felt for my students and their incredible families. Not to mention working with an awesome team and people that I loved working with. It has been destroyed by HOS. It makes me so sad. HOS -beware parents he only will give you the time of day if you have money. If you are a funded student and live a regular life like most of us. HOS will not give your student the time of day. Our school was never about that it did not matter if you were private pay or funded. There was no difference we loved you all the same. No longer the case.
