Livingston Dining Commons Dining Service Assistant - Dining Service Assistant Rutgers University Employee Review

Pros

The hours are pretty flexible. The student managers and the student staff are really friendly. Livingston Dining Hall is the best dining hall on the entire Rutgers University.

Cons

You needed to use a meal swipe to get into work, or they would have deducted money from your pay check. Lots of physical labor in an unpleasant environment (dirty dishes and utensils in kitchen, very hot and humid).

Pros

co-workers are super nice, friendly and collaborative. Good flexibility in work arrangements. My immediate boss is nice.

Cons

Morale is quite low, and turnover is high. We are losing good people and goals are not being met. Senior Leader tell us to do more with less, and do not want constructive feedback. They don't lead by example, taking elaborate trips instead of being present and supporting staff. Rules don't apply to them. So disappointing, not what you would expect from a public university.
