Pros
- Resume filler - Build on your experience - There are some great people who make big contributions to the services and quality improvement (but they are few and far between) - 1199 union membership for frontline workers
Cons
- Not as progressive as they claim to be, poor work culture - Raises are unlikely, promotions come with double the work but not double the pay (yikes!) - Gender pay gaps - HR is not trauma-informed or actively working to reduce unconscious bias practices within the organization - Quality of services is questionable from the patient's point of view - Witnessed favoritism among providers and preferred patient service - Few leadership/professional development opportunities
