Pros
There are some incredible people that are honestly too good to still be working there. You can really build some beautiful relationships with your coworkers while you binge drink at the bar to destress/forget after witnessing the CEO attempt to make words in a meeting that inevitably went nowhere. "Jokes" aside, the talent there is unreal, and under-appreciated, and I still miss working with them to this day.
Cons
In the time I spent at SCORCH, my confidence was so shattered that I never thought I would be able to leave. My personality had completely changed and I was becoming a person I no longer liked that could only dwell on how terrible life was. I had to start seeing a psychiatrist (who urged me to quit at the end of every session) and was put on medication because of SCORCH. I've witnessed coworkers go into a full on breakdown multiple times in the middle of the office. I've had to run out of the office quite a few times to either cry or scream in my car. I know I'm not alone in that as well. Even though you're working with such big clients, you're likely only being paid pennies compared to the rest of the St. Louis design industry, unless you're in the CEO's "inner circle". I was told how lucky I was to be able to earn as much as I did. The work/life balance is an absolute joke. Unlimited PTO sounds amazing, but in reality is just a marketing ploy, and the CEO would usually get pretty upset if someone is working from home when he decides he needs to hover behind them and "help" them with their work. All of the positive reviews were written by the CEO's "inner circle." Their outlook of the company is vastly different from the average SCORCH employee. Who knows, maybe it truly has changed since I left, but the number of times I witnessed the CEO promise to change just to revert back two minutes later is too high to count. It's cyclical, and exhausting.
