Pros
Novus really cares about its people. It takes seriously what many other firms fail to understand as crucial aspects to employees' long-term happiness - effective recruiting, organized onboarding, employee engagement, consistent agreement on job responsibilities and expectations, etc. Props to the leadership team for taking management so seriously. I only see improvement on these fronts in the future. The environment is fast-paced and provides an invaluable opportunity for anyone looking to wear various hats and learn within a high-growth environment. The exposure I got to the various functions of someone in my role (and other roles) was priceless. People are dedicated, hardworking, passionate about what they're building and have a great sense of humor. The culture is collaborative, and leadership is very conscious about providing transparency around business decisions, team structures and processes. The benefits package is solid. In-house perks include happy hours, a newly built pantry filled with snacks and quarterly firm-wide catering.
Cons
The hours can be long. But the upside is that this means employees often hang out with each other, which contributes to the tightly-knit culture. Novus isn't for those who are looking to have a routine job with a narrowly-defined and unchanging set of responsibilities. It's a place for those who seek responsibility and accountability, who are adaptive and want to be key players on a small, nimble, hardworking and high-performing team. Personalities can be pushy and loud. The open office layout may be overwhelming for someone who's used to working solo behind closed doors.
