Pros
Clients are good here. There is a lot to learn here from the assignments that clients provide. But, there isn't even a single positive point which I can think of about managers, even after brainstorming for entire day.
Cons
Worst managers working in Pune office in Sudit K. Parekh & Co. They are highly unprofessional and some of them are not at all knowledgeable even after holding experience of 5 years in Big 4 audit firms. Managers are not knowledgeable - From Direct tax team of firm like SKP, expectations of a fresher is to do add value to their knowledge by applying it practically. But the managers here are busy highlighting cosmetic changes rather than explaining the applicability of laws under various practical situations. I was unable to figure out the reason for this till my last working day (worked for an entire year). Unprofessional appraisal meetings - Managers are highly unprofessional that during the appraisal meetings, they used to highlight points like you need to network with people from another segment of SKP group (though there is no need to work with them). Hearing this, there is a feeling that I am here to work and not to network with each and every employee of the "SKP Group". Late sittings/No leaves - During seasons, entire direct tax team used to work every weekend and this happens continuously for 4 months. And when the season gets over and employee asks for leave, the response from managers is a "NO". And upon employee highlighting to manager that he/she has worked so hard for 4 months that a break is very much needed, the answer that managers provide is " so what, you have not worked till 3 am in the night everyday" though the usual office timings are 9.30 am to 6.30 pm. No appreciation - In terms of appreciation, there isn't even a single word that an employee can hear even though he/she works on weekends, do late sittings, performs extraordinarily well. On working hard and getting a clean assessment order, the manager just calls up and say "let's just start working on another assignment" and gets busy replying "thanks" to the appreciation mail received from partner without even thinking to keep the employee in loop on those emails. Shortage of articles - There is an utter shortage of articles here because of which freshers are asked to perform tasks expected from articles like collecting assessment orders from IT department and upon doing that, managers have an expectation here that the employee should come to office for handing over assessment order even though its 9 pm in the night and there is no urgency from client for this. And on not doing that, managers can even say words like "you will be relieved tomorrow and are not required to serve the remaining 20-days notice period". They don't even know that employees are very happy to end their contract ASAP. Long term contract - During interview, they ask for an oral commitment from employees to work for at least two years, but I think they should work on creating an environment where employee can work for two years before asking for commitment. Not even a single qualified employee is going to work with this company if managers don't just stop shouting from their desks at employees and keeping the credit for good work with them rather than sharing it with employees. And I think that's the reason of attrition rate being so high that most of the employees starts thinking to quit the job and look for another one within 6 months.
