After an office move to Portsmouth and a shift in management things quickly went downhill. People were no longer appreciated and left. Staff were no longer praised and the open door policy became a firmly closed door. When I first joined I was on first name terms with the director within a few weeks and he took genuine interest in me and my role. It took months for the new director to even show her face. She must have been there for about 10 months before I left and I doubt she knew my name. Staff were promoted to senior positions unfairly, and abused their power treating hard working lovely people like dirt because they could. The whole atmosphere changed it turned into a very negative and unhappy place. From a work point of view the business started lacking consistency and direction. It started putting money at the centre of every decision instead of what was right for the customer. Lazy people were left to be lazy and hard working people were pushed to breaking point. I’m very very glad I left when I did because it somehow seems to have gotten worse! And before I get a generic response, I detailed all of this in my exit interview (and more - with specific examples) and nothing has been done clearly as it was over a year ago. Makes me very very sad because I really loved that job.
