Pros
Decent benefit package. Friendly work environment. Some positions have flexible work hours. Generally very good in understanding the needs of working parents.
Cons
Too many employees with a very high sense of entitlement. Too many employees who don't collaborate well because "It's not in my job description". It's a co-op so business practices are very different than a for-profit. Decisions are made through a board of director system; problem is out of the 12 members, there are maybe 2 who have any tech savvy and this is a telecommunications company. Expect to buy technical hardware/software products at for too low a price that will not function they way they want it to and expect their engineers to "make it work". Product testing is done and then the decision making and/or the purchasing process takes way too long, technology changes and you need to start over again. There's a tug of war between the union and non-union positions. Some union positions are grossly overpaid. There are also problems in pay within the union itself; higher knowledge level, schooling requirements and certifications are not being compensated correctly.
