Pros
Love working with this company who has a real passion for children safety and educating the school bus community. They have the best conferences around assisting in workshops and highly educated transportation conferences are the best.
They are always open to new ideas and possibilities. They have created a green bus transportation workshop as well that is extremely popular. STN's Chief Content Officer has been with the company 15 years is loved by the transportation community and school bus community. He is compassionate, open minded, and the cornerstone to the brand and what STN stands for. He's always been nothing but hard working and thrives on employees who are a team player.
I enjoyed the small, relaxed atmosphere where employees where many hats. I've enjoyed freelancing for them full time and have known the company for many years. I've enjoyed working with all of the staff including the advertisers and am amazed by the diversity in the work place. They hire women, minorities, people of all ages and put equal opportunity first and foremost.
There is always room for growth, so as long as you are willing to step up to the plate. If you just come in expecting to do the bare minimum, that's not how you grow and that is not how you stand out as an employee. Employees here stand out by pulling their weight and doing their absolute best.
Finally, having worked for the company for years now, I can say that there is not a high turn over rate. On the contrary, there are people that have been at STN Media faithfully for years and years.
I've worked for companies that offered poor health insurance with high deductibles. I've also worked with LARGE companies with ZERO and I mean NO 401k plans. This company offers the BEST Kaiser insurance, by far. Nothing compares and trust me, I've seen my fair share. Although, I now freelance for them when I was working full-time, the insurance was amazing and the 401K as well.
The Chief Content Officer is amazingly understanding when it comes to taking personal time off. He's always bringing in fresh and new ideas to grow the company and build out the conferences. The publisher and owner is always within reach and is a sweetheart. The Chief Content Officer and the Publisher are very supportive of ensuring that morale is high in the office.
I love how everyone including freelancers are taken to lunch once a month as well.
Cons
I completely disagree with the negative review here written from a former employee that did not carry his weight. But, the environment is now much better now that he is no longer here. It’s a fictitious and bogus write up coming from an individual who didn't fit with the company.
It's a very small environment, so choosing the right people for the right job is highly very important.
