Pros
1. Job Content: Primary projects are related to Army and GIS Software. The development is challenging but rewarding.
2. Salary: Good and based on experience, location, and market value.
3. Benefits: Best health insurance I've ever had. Matching 401k, paid time off, tuition assistance, and work from home is allowed.
4. Hours & Schedule: Flexible hours. People start work between 6 am, and 9 am.
5. Work environment: Programmers here do it all. From database programming to the server side, and client side. The senior programmers at Syncadd are some of the smartest and most humble programmers I've ever worked with. The primary languages used in Syncadd are Java, C#, VB.net, Python, SQL, and JavaScript. Various other programming languages are used as well.
6. Continuous learning: At Syncadd you will be learning something new every day. It is an environment that encourages people to be good problem solvers and creative thinkers.
Cons
1. System age: Some of the systems used in government work uses older technologies. The software is quite massive and split up into multiple applications making it difficult to convert to newer platforms.
2. Commute & traffic: (Non work related) For most folks the commute is quite far. Traffic in this area can also be very busy.
3. Food cost: (Non work related) The cost of food in Crystal City is very expensive. Best to prep and bring your own food.
