Many mid-level managers don’t understand what their teams actually do. Because of that, the only thing they can manage is trivial details. They end up micromanaging meaningless criteria, like how many days you come into the office, or why you didn’t submit leave for being away for 15 minutes. If you don’t agree with everything they say, you’re sidelined. You won’t be given enough work, and your chances of promotion disappear.
