Pros
Working with kids is generally fun. A lot IN CLASSROOM staff is great. The people at the front, not so much.
Cons
The two owners were shady. They'd attempt to make me take work trainings and told me that I wouldn't be compensated for them. I told them that that's illegal, and suddenly they were willing to compensate. So if i didn't know my rights they were going to make me do 4 hours of training at home for free? Another time, a parent came and was upset that their child was supposedly hit. One of the main staff went and brought the child in front of the angry parent to explain themselves, which I found super unprofessional. Adults deal with adults. If I found out that my child was yelled at by some parent because the owners of the program that I pay for decided to drag him out there I'd be livid. One of the female staff was always too touchy with the kids, and i confronted them when I saw them kiss one of the kids on the lips. I told them how inappropriate I found it. Their reply was basically "I've known them for a long time, and I'm a girl so its not weird". When bringing this up with the office lady (who's known the lady I was complaining about for years), she rolled her eyes at me and basically laughed. I've worked at another place with kids for years. The amount of micromanaging and complaining I heard in 4 months by CG , the lady at the desk, was insane. She always had something to say. The owner was disrespectful to me, telling me to "use some common sense" because a child was climbing a playground figure that they installed into their gym, snapping at me and getting an ugly attitude. I told him that I was never told that they couldn't do so. I told to watch how he is talking to me, especially considering that I was a good staff member and never had any problems. After the shift I also talked to him again to make sure we were clear. A week later my position was mysteriously no longer needed. They told me that in one weeks time I would not be needed anymore. When filing for unemployment, the company purposefully didn't answer TWC. So instead of them confirming i was let go and me receiving payments in an appropriate time, I had to wait over a month until TWC's time limit ran out, which I then finally got approved (if employers never answer, they will side with you) The place has roaches, A/C doesn't work, naggy front desk lady, too touchy with the kids.
