There’s no way around it, being let go is tough. It’s super hard news to hear. It’s also hard to news to deliver.
When it has to happen, we strive to do so professionally, compassionately and in person. There are some circumstances, though, when in-person is simply not an option: typically when the employee works remotely or is otherwise unavailable to meet directly with his or her supervisor. In those cases, a telephone conversation is our best alternative.
