      Community is great to cover and always has a news story

      Cons

      Parent company will not invest in the newsroom and continues to slash jobs and salaries. The once-storied newspaper is a shell of it's former self.

      Fun reporting, something new every day, creative freedom

      Cons

      Horrible pay, not livable wage in Santa Cruz, no opportunity for a raise, depressing morale, increasing workload as other employees left and were not replaced
