Pros

I've had the opportunity to work for some well-known brands/companies over the years, and I can say with certainty that Schellman is one of the best. It’s not perfect—no company is—but I think the balanced focus on both people and performance makes it a standout. There’s a lot of discussion out there about putting people first (e.g., Simon Sinek), but I haven’t seen a company live up to it day-to-day to the extent Schellman does. While it’s evolving and there may be different context today vs. years past, there’s an intentionality behind the culture that just doesn’t exist everywhere. At the same time, this is a performance-driven environment. Expectations are high, and everyone’s expected to bring their best. So, in sum, while no company gets everything right, I truly believe that Schellman tries to get better each and every day. And as someone with nearly 30 years’ experience in the workforce, that’s something I appreciate deeply.

Cons

One area that we continue to work on—and where there's still room to grow—is balancing rapid growth with operational efficiency. We’ve made huge strides, but like any high-growth organization, there are occasional growing pains. The good news is, we have the right mechanisms in place to capture feedback and each round of surveys has a corresponding action plan. (Again, not something you see everywhere.)

Pros

Management frequently improves benefits. Management really knows the business well. The company has historically been well insulated from economic downturns. So many opportunities to stand out and make a name for yourself

Cons

Data driven decisions still a work in progress. Long term vision is likely 1 ish year.

Pros

The people. Peers are great to work with and very supportive. Some of the leaders in the teams are as well. Perks were GREAT but have slowly been taken away or the costs went up.

Cons

Where do I begin? Wholesale executive turnover. Technology projects that we're supposed to say are awesome but aren't really that great. They take up more time to figure out than they're worth and we know those are meant to take our jobs. AI, offshore, temp labor. No thanks. It was a place I loved working at but has slowly just become a job that makes me feel like I should be watching for somewhere else to go. Just in case. The culture has changed quite a bit too. It used to feel like a place where we all wanted to work together but that's slowly fading.
