Pros
The company is respected in the industry and there are many opportunities to travel
Cons
There are longstanding concerns around leadership behaviour within parts of the company that have not been meaningfully addressed. There is a senior leader who has remained employed by the company for many years despite consistently negative feedback and complaints.
Executives/People Team (HR) have yet to appropriately address these concerns, at least as far as what is visible to employees, despite this feedback.
He repeatedly defaults to a toxic and abusive working style that creates an environment of fear and intimidation amongst the wider staff, who are often hesitant to respectfully challenge his ideas and afraid to speak up about his mistreatment out of fear of retaliation.
There are patterns of communication and management that can feel unnecessarily aggressive, including public criticism, a tendency to deflect accountability, and a failure to celebrate wins and employee contributions--both quantitative and qualitative. Instead, because of the power dynamics, there are cases of this individual 'phasing out' those all levels who he doesn't like.
Staff amongst the wider global team, including management, quietly acknowledge his reputation and mistreatment of others. This dynamic impacts morale and, in some cases, makes it harder to retain and attract strong talent in certain areas of the business, as his reputation precedes him.
Patterns such as these would likely be considered unacceptable in many modern workplaces, but they have been allowed to persist here longer than expected.
