Pros
I never envisioned my first real job out of college would legitimately prepare for me almost anything work life could throw at me moving forward but I wouldn't hesitate to say Scratch did exactly that. Besides the wide repertoire of marketing and PR-related skills, I genuinely credit Scratch for instilling me with a sense of overall preparedness to take on challenges, the mindset to come up with creative solutions to problems and the confidence to take ownership over my work. Put simply, after you work at Scratch, you'll likely have done a little bit of everything and be able to speak to almost anything. I found in all my interviews for other jobs moving forward, that there were few things I didn't have some experience in. In addition to that, I generally found my superiors to be great people and consider some of them to be lifelong mentors and friends. Not least of all, the flexibility to work from home on Friday (if that's still a policy) was very appreciated.
Cons
It's a very demanding work environment. If that's something you thrive on, it's not an issue (I worked with plenty of people that did) but if you're easily overwhelmed or need a lot of hand-holding, it's going to be bumpy ride (at least initially). As a relatively small firm, it seemed somewhat common for the business take on a bit more work than the workforce can actively handle which leads to some early mornings / late nights. But this is true in the PR and marketing world in general, so expect some occasional infringement on your work/life balance. Communication can be a bit fragmented. It's a place where you absolutely must take ownership over your work and actively communicate with everyone involved to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks.
