Pros

Great pay and free healthcare.

Cons

VERY old equipment and maintenance that seems not to care either. I was told that If you pretripped your trailer and it was out of DOT inspection compliance that as long as you put it on the pretrip then Sharkey would pay your ticket! I have personally had to reject multiple trailers due to either the condition, DOT inspection out of date, or not even having a registration on the trailer. No retirement either. It’s like management figured out the best way to cut costs was to work drivers until they’re dead and there’s several elderly drivers way past 65 still driving there. Personally, I think that’s because there’s no where else to go since they probably have many DOT failures and no pension. Sad!

Thank you for sharing your perspective and for the time you spent with Sharkey Transportation. We take concerns related to equipment condition, maintenance practices, and safety compliance very seriously. Sharkey Transportation operates under federal and state regulations, and our equipment and operations are subject to routine inspections, documentation requirements, and oversight. Drivers are encouraged to report any equipment issues during pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and equipment that does not meet standards is addressed through established maintenance and compliance processes. We also want to clarify that drivers are not expected to operate unsafe or non-compliant equipment. Safety decisions, inspections, and responsibility are handled through defined procedures designed to protect drivers, the public, and the company. Sharkey Transportation has been in business since 1971, and longevity in this industry requires consistent compliance, accountability, and ongoing investment. Our workforce includes drivers at many stages of their careers, and all drivers are held to the same licensing, medical, and safety standards required to operate commercially. While experiences can vary, we continue to review equipment, processes, and communication with the goal of supporting safe, professional operations and the people who represent us on the road. We appreciate you taking the time to share your viewpoint and wish you the best moving forward. — Sharkey Transportation Team

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. We work to provide clear, upfront communication around pay and equipment so drivers can make informed decisions, whether someone is newer to the industry or new to our team. Pay and equipment assignments vary based on experience, driving record, home time, location, performance, and equipment availability, and are reviewed throughout the hiring and orientation process. Our goal is to offer consistent miles, dependable home time, and a team that supports drivers on the road. We continue to make improvements across our fleet and operations and value feedback as part of that effort.
