Pros

Prefered members are good b/c you can have repeat good customers and leave out the bad. Sounds too good to be true. And that's because it is. They ruin everything with their rating system.

Cons

The rating system on Shipt is absolute cancer. They take the last 50 deliveries and use that to base your ability to receive orders. So 50 5 star ratings is perfect. But if you ever, ever, ever, get 1 rating under 5 stars, expect your orders sent being sent to you to drop about %60 percent. If you ever, ever, ever, get another rating less than perfect 5 stars and you already ahve say 1 4 star rating. Expect your order to almost vanish. It's a desert wasteland. The only orders you will be getting now are the non tipper, low low tipper, and customers who love to rate less than 5 stars. 100% you are never going to return to a perfect score, because you need 50 orders to remove that 1 "bad" 4 star rating. Yes a 4 star is just as bad as a 1 star on Shipt. But remember what I said above, the only orders you are going to get are more bad customers. The orders that all the current perfect 50 5 star shoppers don't want, you get those. But even worse, if your avg is like a 4.94 vs say a 4.97, you won't even see the bad orders b/c orders wont even get sent to you b/c all the people above you are grabbing them. You literally are only going to get the no tip orders sent to you b/c all the people above you know who these customers are and they reject them further sending them down the line where you are.

Pros

Flexibility—Could set my own schedule. It could also be fun, and sometimes quite rewarding when customers were nice and appreciative. I credit Shipt for introducing me to gig work, as it led me to other, better-paying gig jobs while keeping the schedule flexibility that I need.

Cons

Pay—it’s pretty much poverty-level considering how much work goes into shopping for customers. While I didn’t Shipt full-time, I DID put in at least 30 hours a week doing this shopping. For all of that, the most I made in any given year was $13,000! And I worked hard, got great customer reviews and consistently good tips. Occasionally, there would be newspaper articles about the random Shipt shopper who made $100,000/year! What such articles glossed over (this fact would be buried somewhere deep in the text) was that the shopper in question consistently worked some 80-100 hours per week. So if you broke down that fabulous six-figure pay by how much time the shopper was spending doing the work, it really doesn’t come out to all that much. The other pay issue worth mentioning is that in 2020, right when Covid was rampant, Shipt announced that they were “restructuring” the way they paid shoppers. What this translated to was that they were now paying us even less than they had previously done! That’s when I began to be soured on Shipt. I continued to do it for a while longer, but eventually went to other gigs that paid more.
