Pros

None that I can think of cos there aren't any.

Cons

There are countless demanding jobs across industries that can be both physically and mentally exhausting. Many companies recognize this and actively work on building a strong, supportive company culture to offset that toll. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience at Sigma AI. While I never had a problem with the repetitive nature or volume of the daily tasks, the real challenge has been dealing with a work environment plagued by ineffective, dismissive, and in some cases, discriminatory management. The organizational culture, as I experienced it, felt more like a modern-day sweatshop—structured to benefit senior management while overlooking the well-being, growth, and dignity of the employees. Despite being surrounded by highly educated and talented professionals, it was disheartening to see them undervalued and underutilized. There appeared to be a deeply troubling pattern in management practices—favouritism based on regional background or personal relationships, a lack of appreciation for effort, and an overall absence of approachability or fairness. As an international company based in Spain, one would expect professionalism and inclusivity to be at the forefront—especially in a multicultural work environment. Sadly, the opposite seemed true. There was often a lack of transparency and effective communication from leadership, and shockingly, many of the higher-ups in Madrid (including those holding C-level titles) did not appear to have a working proficiency in English, which is concerning given the nature of the business. I had initially hoped that the introduction of women into management would lead to positive change, but unfortunately, even that didn’t result in the supportive leadership many were counting on. What we received instead was micromanagement and the continuation of a culture that does little to empower employees. Promotions and recognition appeared heavily influenced by internal politics rather than merit. HR support was nearly non-existent, with only one individual in the entire department during my time there. Basic employee welfare was overlooked—for example, drinking water was unavailable on our floors for extended periods (up to a year), and despite repeated issues, the break time was never adjusted to account for these inconveniences. It’s incredibly disappointing to see a company with such potential and a workforce full of capable individuals be hindered by poor management decisions and outdated workplace practices. If leadership or external clients truly care about employee welfare, I would strongly recommend anonymous, unannounced audits and a thorough evaluation of management’s effectiveness—particularly the project managers. This feedback comes not from a place of bitterness but from a genuine desire to see improvements made for the future employees who deserve better than what we experienced.
