Pros
New management style and improved processes. New management systems have addressed work / life imbalances. Fairly flat reporting structure. Open feedback via Tiny Pulse. Highly collaborative atmosphere A days training a month. Decent holiday entitlement. Salary in line with industry standards. Plenty of benefits: pension, dental scheme, bagel Mondays, lunch and learns, working from home, employee of the month, annual awards, bonuses, monthly team outings, beer o'clock. Broad spectrum of clients. Scope to explore latest trends and new tools/technologies. Opportunities to write on the company blog, appear on podcasts / webinars. Opportunities for public speaking Great if you're a self starter, willing to learn fast and have an entrepreneurial flair. You will be rewarded. Brighton SEO involvement.
Cons
Nothing major, the business has turned a corner (just look at the staff retention level) over the period I've worked there. There have been hard times, but this is in the past. Like any boutique agency (family) there are occasional internal conflicts. If you want an easy going salaried position, look elsewhere. Most team members carry a high level of responsibility and pressure, so there's nowhere to hide (or colleagues to blame) when work delivered is of a poor standard or doesn't get done in timely fashion. Time management is an issue at any agency. Under scoping work still happens and it's unlikely this can be completely resolved.
Pros
Since working here I have grown in confidence, due to the trust and respect of my colleagues and CEO. There is room to grow, and accommodate how you'd like to grow your career. Since a few team members left last year, the environment has changed completely - targets are realistic, results are up, clients are extremely happy, and there is a nice vibe. My confidence has grown after a rocky start, and I feel like a valued member of staff who is listened too. I also feel supported by the wider team, who are supportive and helpful, and engage with client campaigns enthusiastically. Processes are in place, work is completed on time and I genuinely can say I'm happy working here. Within a few weeks of some issues arising, the right senior management dealt with them, and the outcome was a change which has allowed the agency to blossom and us to win some awesome clients we wouldn't have done in the old set-up.
Cons
The company experienced a period of change, including staff turnover. A few 'experienced' members of staff (who perhaps should have known better) made life incredibly difficult for new team members. And it was a toxic place to be. I doubted my decision to work there, despite the issue being related to such a small number of employees. There was constant whispering, gossiping and general lack of team spirit. This has all now changed completely. Genuinely it is a different place to be - and now we just have too many clients wanting us to help them!
