Pros

Great opportunity to build a portfolio

Cons

There’s no organization within Skin Gym from top to bottom. The Founder and COO aren’t willing to invest, mentor, or lead their team to success. They prefer a “hands-off” approach because they are slammed with so many other things. However, they will be the first one to point fingers at team members when things don’t go according to their plan. Management has unrealistic growth rates for Social without realizing how much work goes into Social. Also Management expects unrealistic expectations for big projects/photoshoots (be ready to do a photoshoot with less than a week time). There are little to no branding guidelines, which makes doing anything for this company virtually impossible. The Founder does not have great communication skills (which makes reviewing Content and Content Calendars a grueling process more than it already is). Similar to her mother (who works at Skin Gym as well), is prone to yelling, having childish outbursts, and will walk away as if nothing happened. They will also be first to point the finger at employees for poor communication, when in fact, the founder isn’t willing to communicate because she ultimately can’t communicate professionally. Instead, the COO/HE (her boyfriend) will do the communicating for her.

Pros

The founder and leadership are deeply involved in marketing, so you’re always working on exciting product launches and seeing ideas come to life quickly. We’re encouraged to pitch ideas, test content, and help shape the brand voice across Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms.

Cons

The pace can be intense. Since the team is lean, you’ll often wear multiple hats — from community management to content creation to campaign coordination.
