Pros
Attracted some very talented individual contributors across all areas of the business (from marketing/sales to engineering and data science). There are many people who are willing to sacrifice their personal time to drive successful outcomes for the company - these are the type of people you love working with. 401(k) has good investment options and a decent match. You were able to expense your cell phone and the kitchen is usually stocked with some snacks and drinks.
Cons
No direction or corporate value system. Upper management is exactly that - they are condescending and completely opaque with everyone else in the company when it comes to critical decisions. No individual growth plans or even a cadence or reviews so very difficult to grow professionally. Lots of legacy and broken systems require massive engineering and operations efforts just to keep the wheels from falling off. The constant sacrifice of personal time to fix these broken issues with little more than lip service from 'management' leads to burnout and a massive rate of attrition. The promise of a bonus seems to be evaporating every year as it is a moving target with no concrete updates and employees don't know whether it will be paid in part, in full, or if at all due to the lack in transparency.
