Pros
There are some nice people there. Not many but a few
Cons
I did not work at Smartland very long but it was not a good experience. The first thing to know is it’s a family company. The majority of owners/managers are related by blood or marriage so that is a wall you will never breach. Next, there is a cultural awaking in the way everything is communicated. You will be told in flat out that their time is more valuable than yours. That would be rather insulting to most Americans. Your emails will be ignored but you have about 2 hours to respond to theirs. The office culture is every man for himself. Also, the minority profile in the office is very low which is disturbing. Finally, the business practices are questionable, personal and business spending are mixed together. I have worked at family owned companies before and that was never done. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is a regular bill-paying tool. It was not a positive fit for me. But who knows maybe everything has changed since then.
