Pros
I worked at Smile for almost 2 years and the rate of change and challenge meant there was never a dull moment. It was extraordinary, in hindsight, to see the adaptability and commitment of each individual to always want what was best for the organization. - High levels of autonomy and flexibility to pursue projects in your work and collaborate with others - The ecommerce industry is endlessly fascinating and full of growth - Everyone always shows up as the best version of themselves, it attracts highly capable individuals - Great benefits including credit to spend on merchant stores, wellness credit, office setup credit for remote work, stock options etc. - Remote ready company that does a fantastic job at facilitating connection and welcomeness I can honestly say that this company changed my life for the better. The reviews that went up during the beginning of COVID do not reflect the deep levels of empathy and care that the leadership team has for its employees and I think it would serve people well to put themselves in their shoes. It is impossible to imagine the difficult choices that have been made in re-shaping the company's direction over time, but they do it with good intentions.
Cons
Problems are all relative. There are considerable obstacles in scaling the help we offer customers and how we enable their success with the product. How long it takes to happen is highly dependent on the ability of the company to empower the people closest to the end-user and its ability to extract meaningful data from its customers. That said, as the old trope goes, every negative is just another problem to be solved and I have every confidence that the company will get there in time.
