Pros
Sonitrol has a great and unique product, provide representatives good technology.
Cons
Company forces sales professionals to use verbatim scripts (poorly written ones) for every part of the sales process and blames you when they don't work, forced to use a recorder to record your appointments for the manager...very awkward for you and the prospect especially when discussing security, you have no negotiating options for the closing process, there is no real training other than being forced to memorize scripts. They don't believe you have to be knowledgeable about their product or the industry to sell it, just use the terrible scripts. They believe in creating animosity with the prospect in order to soothe them later to win the sale. Sales department is a revolving door, the manager has no real sales or management experience, just is a yes man to the rather eccentric owner. No mileage, family benefits ridiculously expensive, salary low, and promised commissions are unattainable, no true protected territory. Those that do well there are the ones that the managers feed call ins to. The most successful rep out of Chicago is allowed to sell as a true professional, and does not follow the "play book" (scripts) like in Michigan. Hence, he is very successful. This is the most misguided sales department I have ever worked for. They are not honest in the interview process. Don't get sucked in. I got the heck out.
