Pros
-writing about things you enjoy and having such a large audience reading your articles
-they aren't like a tabloid but a true news site, so you don't have to compromise your standards
- compensation (quite high compared to many other news sites)
Cons
-no communication
-no connection to team (most employees work from home but you only have one person you answer to and are NEVER allowed to talk to anyone else or get to know the team etc)
-lack of opportunities to move up or expand your job... unless you're a member of their small office team, they don't really consider you part of the real team. due to not knowing other staff or being allowed to communicate with others, you have no opportunities to impress the boss or move up. there is no connection- you're just a faceless person behind a computer screen. if you sign up to be a contracted employee, you will ALWAYS be a contracted employee. if you sign up to be a writer, you will never work your way to being an editor, etc. no growth or opportunities exist. even if you want to apply in the office, they only offer internships with no possibility of permanent jobs. they just rotate interns out every 6 months.
