Foused on student learning - Administrative Soteric Academy Employee Review

I have had one of my best teaching experiences here at Soteric. The students are joyful, diligent, eager to learn, and respectful to their teachers and to each other. Smaller class size enables me to develop one on one teaching/coaching relationship with the students. School admin and other teachers are very supportive and helpful.

One thing the school should consider is to expand Summer School class offerings to meet more student demand.

The students are great. Most are very smart and engaged and care about learning. A lot of the parents are also involved in the educational process.

Admin is completely disengaged from student learning and from staff. No consequences for truancy or other behavioral issues, no structure to support teachers when they need help, admin often doesn’t reply to emails or texts, the principal hasn’t been to a graduation in years and spends all of his time in his office. The principal doesn’t visit classrooms. The only other admin member is rarely on campus. No guidance counselor, no engagement with parents (admin instructs staff to engage with parents, regardless of what the behavior is and this involves giving parents your private phone number). No behavioral escalation plan. No educational assistance program for ESL students, which led to at least one ESL student dropping out. Flouting of COVID protocol (some teachers weren’t wearing masks in their classrooms and staff never checked up on this). The positive reviews here come from admin
