In the business office/patient financial services/billing is a really great place to work. From flexible schedules including a flexible work from home schedule to the amount of work you are expected to complete and the people you work with are great. Paid time off is easy to take and accumulated. Friendly and helpful environment.

18 an hour sounds reasonable but the cost of living in the area doesn’t match up. Rent in town is no loss than $1000 a month for a one bedroom. That’s abt 33% of your gross income. Add in health insurance and taxes that are taken out you are hardly getting by just after rent. This isn’t a job people have as a stepping stone or a starting position out of high school/college. The emplyees in this department are all adults over 30. I’m sure those who have been with the Health System for longer make more but being such a large employer for the area you would think the pay scale would be higher. Especially for the department who is billing charges and bringing in the money for the hospital. Training is also not so great but it is a lot to learn. There’s just no resources to help you with medical billing there other than asking coworkers or supervisors and the notes you took while being trained.
