Pros
I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED what I did as a clinician for the Unaccompanied Minors Program. It was the most fulfilling work and I loved those kids. Helping them with their traumas and being some of the only "family" they have during this trying time as they waited to see if they were deported was a privilege. Southwest Key, at the time, also gave an impressive benefits package.
Cons
Unhealthy working atmosphere, lack of accountability for management Every program has a completely different feel depending on who the directors are. For example, the programs in Arizona were better functioning, had a higher employee retention rate, and client satisfaction than those in Texas because of the personalities of those involved. At the programs in Texas, there is a lot of paranoia, backbiting, inappropriate decisions made my management on whether or not they liked them that week (literally), and a range of underpunishment and overpunishment depending on what is happening. It is really sad because a lot of great people have been lost because managers did not have accountability because the higher of you get the most "in" the clique of supervisors you become including with district management. This was over 4 years ago, so I hope to God is changed. It really was a great company with nice bones to work for.
