Pros
- good pay - stock awards have the potential to really grow over time and become ultra valuable - never bored - opportunities to work on many different types of projects, always a challenge to learn from and overcome - working with extremely smart and motivated people
Cons
- long hours - absurd schedule expectations (I think they were supposed to be at Mars by now) - everything is a priority, meaning nothing is a priority - business moves so quickly that minimal reflection is done on how things went wrong and how to improve processes - some roles have more opportunity for growth in titles while others are very stagnant, so you see some people being promoted extremely fast while others have no title change for years - It seems that managers receive no training on how to actually manage employees. It seems that they are made managers because they are good workers, not because they are good leaders. They don't seem to give leadership training to managers. - there does not seem to be any value placed on worker retention. You will work really hard and have really awesome perks, then burn out and leave or get fired. - SpaceX has the highest turnover rate I've witnessed in a workplace. As soon as you get to know someone and they seem proficient, they leave and are replaced by someone fresh out of college.
