Pros

Company has really good benefits. Flexible hours are great for work life balance. Base pay is decent and depending on what division you work for they will give you cell phone, wifi, and mileage reimbursements.

Cons

It's for sale.... Question: Why would an investment firm try to sell off an IT company that claims they are the largest of its kind in the Nation and the leader of product innovation in today's world? Here's why: Spireon has a new CEO who is a partner of the investment firm now trying to sell off the company. Failed twice already to get it sold. According to CEO we weren't supposed to find out either. Only reason he's given as to why they are selling off the company is, and I'll use his words: "that's just what investment firms do, we sell things to each other". However. As you read below you'll get some true insight. No long term plan and continued device issues... Aggressive sales plans for every division are in place so boost sales/profits and make the spreadsheets looks better. However, staff has been slashed and there are no plans to hire in people needed to support the sales due to hiring freeze to keep profits higher. Field sales and account managers are stretched beyond their limits as it is. Many people have quit all throughout the US which put burden on those that stay. Look at all the sales director positions posted as well. More proof they want sales sales sales but no one to support the account. Our IT department is layered with multiple projects so they don't finish resolving issues which means the issues just like on top of each other. If company's hits the goals for 2017 they will have numerous accounts without support. Absolutely no plans to prepare for the business they want brought in the door. Once Spireon is sold off, not their problem anymore. On top of the above many car manufacturers are coming out with their own connected car experience and technology and it's better than what Spireon can offer. It's also free so they have lost multiple accounts and it will continue to get worse. The CEO even mentioned that the New Car table has about 5 years left to it. A month later he states that division is on Fire. Yep, burning to the ground actually. Device issues have plagued the company for years and they don't get fixed. All IT products have issues but ours have gone on for so long we have been thrown out of numerous accounts. Look up Spireon GPS in your Facebook account and read the comments, will paint the picture for you. That's also why sales plans are so high. Have to keep bringing in new business to compensate for the fall out. A new version of a device Spireon offers was just released into the market and it is well known that it doesn't work on multiple levels. It was supposed to be completed last year and tested but wasn't. Now forced into the market without its true selling value and multiple other issues that are constantly being discovered. Every division has had the same on going issues and have had to replace entire fleets for major customers repeatedly. A former employee wrote a review on here for Spireon mentioning that two major accounts are looking for other vendors and that is true. Bottom line is because of all the constant change and restructuring, massive turnover, and the wrong people in charge of divisions they know nothing about they are always searching for a direction and or going in a new one. This has led to no real direction at all so the competition has passed Spireon by and so has the technology. Most employees at every level just put out fires all day long. New CEO says that's changing and we're killing it here and there but we're not and our clients really don't like us. Pay/Opportunity... If are in sales or account management you will have to pay for your own travel which takes weeks to get back. Have at least $6K available or your ccard or you won't be able to afford working here. Spireon does not have a review system in place, none. Expect constant territory restructures, 5 so far this year for our team, which means new managers, directors, or VPs and all want to go in a different direction and have conflicting ideas on pricing or protocol. This also means new pay plans that are completely different than the previous one. So basically, you will start all over again every six months or so to rebuild your relationships and pipeline which will effect your pay. Spireon makes it very difficult to plan your life. Training/Retention... There is no real training program, just on line classes that have nothing to with what you do every day. You might get a couple of days in the field with a rep from whatever division you are joining. You will be hired based on your connections in the industry and expected to bring them to the table and close them quickly. That's your training. Retention has never been a focus at Spireon and one of the main reasons they have so many issues that just keep piling up.
