Pros
I worked at SquareMeal for four years and really enjoyed the experience. There are always going to people who don't enjoy their role for personal reasons but I found that the management team we're really open with the direction and aspirations for the company, and that they really wanted everyone to be enjoy their work and progress in their positions. Working in editorial there are a lot of opportunities to experience amazing restaurants and work with lovely, like-minded people in a happy team who are all passionate about what they do. It's also a small enough team that all ideas are considered, so even when you're a bit more junior you can have your voice heard and make tangible differences in process or output. In terms of work/life balance it's great too, with flexi-time, working from home and plenty of holidays. We were also never expected to stay late tor start early, which I appreciated from a culture perspective.
Cons
It can feel like editorial and sales sometimes feel as if they're working on different projects, when in fact everyone has the same goal. So more collaboration between the teams would be good for everyone.
