Pros
You get to work with real estate related business. You get to work with Chinese employers and colleague.
Cons
Management will try to take advantage of you. Company was rushing to deliver the project, out of goodwill, I did not take any annual leave on the first year to help on project progression. I was told informally that I could bring over my annual leaves to the next year, but they denied after I signed a new contract with them the next year. I did not get any compensation for the annual leaves and when asked, management gives a perfunctory response like "It is what it is". Work ethic were never appreciated. On the first year, my team and I were working tirelessly for the project features and very often we were voluntarily working overtime without getting paid. This was never appreciated and when we stopped doing that, management questioned it like working overtime was a norm. There is no mentorship and little career growth, especially if you are working as a software developer here. (At least if you are reading this in 2022/2023). Company is short on manpower and development team is not the priority when it comes to growth and expansion. Underpaid. my engineer colleagues and I were all underpaid (below market rate). After we handed in the resignation letter, we saw job posting online that company is willing to pay with market rate. Instead of raising our salary, company was only willing to pay properly if leave them no choice.
