I think over the the last 12 months or so, somewhere employee satisfaction and work life balance, that used to be important to the company and upper management, has gotten lost. A lot of changes that were being made prior to my exit, while being sold as doing what is best for the resident, really took a toll on the staffs and cost Steadfast some great talent, I am afraid. The change to open on Sundays was hugely unpopular. Many employees had taken jobs at Steadfast because of the fact that unless struggling with occupancy, we were closed on Sunday and they could go to church and spend time with families, ect. When that changed, the office staff lost a leasing agent for an additional day per week, leaving us short staffed, and took that employees ability to spend that day with family away. In addition, assistant managers are now required to work one weekend day each week. This takes yet another employee away during the week leaving more scheduling challenges. In addition the assistant manager that earned the opportunity to have their weekends off, now has to work each weekend. I just wish that employee happiness had been worked into the decision a little more, because again, I think it will cause Steadfast to lose some talented ACMs.
Lastly, it seemed like over the last year or so, changes happened at the speed of light with communication not keeping up, Changes often outpaced the lines of communication leaving teams struggling to keep up and adjust.
