Pros
As a driver the job isn't too bad.
Cons
Bosses don't provide you the tools and equipment you need to do a quality/effective job. Safety issues are not addressed or taken seriously. Issues are constantly neglected. Sales people don't take the time to set up accounts correctly - so when you show up as a driver you are left with figuring out all the details, type of waste, container type, etc. Welcoming packet doesn't include labels for a pickup so if you're not given any, that's a major hassle. Dispatchers/supervisors nitpick over meaningless details, like when you hit certain buttons on your PDT, mostly useless information on your route sheet. They monitor you constantly with GPS and dash cams (Road AND DRIVER FACING, WITH AUDIO). Eat a baloney sandwich or take a drink of water, talk on your phone (while sitting in a parking lot not in PARK) you could get a 10 day suspension, 2nd offense termination. But they couldn't care less about criss-crossing routes, adding 50-100 miles a day instead of effectively grouping stops, skipping/missing stops constantly, changing pickup dates without notifying the customer. The list goes on and on and on.
