Pros

1. Work with great people (staff, students, faculty, even the security guards!) 2. Good time off benefits 3. 401k Matching is a robust percentage. 4. Option for flexible, 4-day week in the summer ("Summer Fridays")

Cons

1. Completely dysfunctional management implements changes without any foresight or thought of the long-term effects on staff, students, or how departments are run. When asked to elaborate, they don't have and/or won't give answers. 2. Some staff (not faculty) manage to take 10 weeks off ANNUALLY. There is zero accountability in some departments. 3. No raises in SIX, yes, SIX years. Cost of living goes up, Suffolk salaries, except for upper administration, stagnate. 4. Tuition-based funding of the university, lacks a robust endowment so financial decisions (hiring, firing, and raises for upper administration) depends on enrollment of full-pay students. 5. No internal hires, no promotions. What you're hired for is your job: forever unless you get a degree here or manage to get in an office with administrators. 6. HR just introduced their version of "Pay Day Loans" because compensation is moving to a bi-weekly system. Compensation is already so low that people need a loan to keep body and soul together. 7. Administration is dismissive of support staff all the way up to the President. 8. Annual mass firings, staff fired without explanation, culture of fear that means people are afraid to advocate for themselves or their departments. Run, do not walk, away from this place. From what I understand, this place was once a great local school where you could get a decent degree, get your credential, and move along. I guarantee that it will not be here in 10 years. Low staff morale, limited alumni support, dysfunctional management and Board of Trustees, this place is in the local papers every other week and not for its accomplishments as a university.
