Pros
I had amazing coworkers, a great boss and there was a lot of room to grow and be creative. The product is great and there’s so much potential for it to be a huge success with the right business decisions and leadership team.
Cons
Growth here required grueling hours, constant personal sacrifice and was rewarded with embarrassingly low pay (SIGNIFICANTLY lower than industry standard). When you tried to advocate for higher pay, HR would point to “benefits.” The problem is benefits like early dismissal Fridays don’t pay rent. The core values listed on the wall are great in theory but seldom practiced day to day. Business decisions were made sloppily, with seemingly little data or actual reason other than aesthetic or just what mood the leadership team was in that day. The company is reactionary - it’s never being proactive, just putting out fires. The bankruptcy was only shocking because there was no transparency about how the company was performing up until the last minute, but thinking back it was not surprising at all - and entirely preventable. I would’ve recommended working here a few years ago, but I’d stay far, far away at this point. It’s a sinking ship and there have been no tangible signs pointing to it being salvageable - regardless of what pep talks are given at company meetings.
