Bad onboarding process, depending on who your leader is. I had to introduce myself around when I joined the company. A bad start at a company does not bode well for success for that employee. Certain leaders don’t know how to lead, develop or motivate employees and as a result good, investment worthy talent is lost to better companies. I both witnessed that and experienced it myself. Certain leaders don’t work well with personality styles different from theirs and expect the employees to flex to their style. This is not a reasonable expectation. Performance appraisals don’t contain realistic measurable goals. Guidance, feedback or direction is minimal and when received not constructive. Favoritism is rampant and rules are different for the “favored”. The “boys club” style exists here. Poor leaders include HR employees who don’t seem to have strong HR skills; they possess elementary skills at best from what I witnessed and don’t coach or counsel leaders properly on dealing with employees and situations that arise. Very disappointing experience all around.
