Pros

Salary - depending on your position

Cons

Supernal touts itself as innovative and forward-thinking, but behind the facade lies a cesspool of toxicity and mismanagement. The EC lacks transparency and accountability, making decisions that benefit their own interests rather than fostering a supportive environment for employees. Career advancement opportunities are virtually nonexistent, as promotions are often based on favoritism (especially in the legal group) rather than merit. This fosters resentment and undermines morale among employees who are overlooked for advancement despite their hard work and dedication. Communication is practically non-existent at Supernal. Important information is withheld (attendance tracking) leaving employees in the dark about company goals, changes, and developments. Instead of transparency, there's secrecy and manipulation, which only adds to the overall sense of disillusionment. The CEO is emotional, erratic and unsuited to be in the position. He has no business saavy and does not rely on the “experts” to advise him. His irrational decisions always have a negative down stream effect on the lower level employees. And finally Supernal is like a big high school. Employees in romantic relationships between departments, managers hiring and protecting their friends, and legal who is virtually untouchable.

Pros

Strong Corporate Backing from Hyundai Motor Group Access to global resources, capital, and manufacturing expertise provides rare stability and scale for an early-stage company. Cutting-Edge Projects in Advanced Air Mobility Unique opportunity to work on next-generation aviation technology with real potential to shape the future of urban transportation. High-Caliber Talent in Select Areas Some teams have passionate, mission-driven engineers and professionals who bring serious value and dedication to the product. Beautiful Facilities & Competitive Compensation The offices are state-of-the-art, and benefits/salary packages are solid, especially for a startup environment. Opportunities to Wear Many Hats Fast-paced atmosphere allows motivated individuals to take ownership, find work outside their lane, and grow horizontally across departments.

Cons

Limited Career Development Opportunities Internal mobility is slow, and upward movement can feel restricted. Talent isn’t always recognized or retained, and mentorship is minimal. Prevalence of Complaining Over Constructive Action The work environment includes too many individuals focused on complaining rather than delivering results. Less whining, more doing would greatly improve team momentum and morale. Lack of Practical Technical Leadership The organization is heavy on theory but light on subject matter experts who can offer clear, actionable guidance. Too often, questions are met with ambiguity rather than informed, experience-based answers.

Pros

- Generous base salary (if you were on the old pay scale prior to 11/2024), - There are some truly talented engineers and has been a pleasure working with.

Cons

- All of leadership with 2-3 exceptions are inexperienced and highly political. - Leadership culture is based on bending over backwards for the demands of decision makers above and hammering down on the engineers working under them when they don't deliver the impossible. - Hyundai being the parent company of Supernal has made things worse with them imposing impossible deadlines to develop systems beyond the scope of their expertise - Hyundai also brings their work culture to Supernal which is incompatible with the norm here. A culture based on absolute obedience to leadership not matter what, and keeping you mouth shut if you want to preserve your position. - Lack of transparency and backstabbing from leadership is something out of this world and the sad part is that most of the working level employees had no idea of the lies they were fed. - Unless you're a good brown-noser and have political game, you have no hope in being promoted.
