Pros
Teema is not an 'employer'- you work for them as independent contractor with no salary, healthcare, benefits, or even a draw or advance. So, to be fair, it does definitely have all of the advantages of being self-employed! You're working remotely, you can set your own hours, no management breathing down your neck, etc. Of course- you can get literally all of this by just opening your own company too.
Cons
Just to reiterate- Teema is not an employer- you are working as an independent contractor with absolutely no base pay whatsoever! The big 'con' (that word could be read both ways) is that if you close a deal, they then take 20% of it, and also delay payment to you by about 30 days. I cannot overemphasize enough that Teema does not provide you anything! No salary, no benefits, no money- if you want your own Dice, Monster, LinkedIn or ZipRecruiter accounts, you have to pay for them out of your own pocket- just like running your own business. If you don't close any deals, you're on your own- if you close a deal, they tax you. Teema is exactly like.... opening up your own company, but then giving away 20% of your revenue for absolutely no reason. It's baffling that people fall for this.
